Process Engineer — Oil Refinery

X17 is recruiting an experienced Process Engineer for oil refinery operations in Suriname. Working within the refinery's technical team, you will optimize process units, troubleshoot operational issues, and support safe, efficient, and reliable production. This is a 1-year contract with VISA SPONSORSHIP, relocation, and related arrangements handled by client.

• Monitor and optimize refinery process units (distillation, conversion, treating) for yield, efficiency, and energy performance.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day process upsets and equipment performance issues, recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures, process parameters, and material/energy balances.
• Support turnaround, commissioning, and start-up/shut-down activities.
• Carry out technical studies, debottlenecking, and improvement projects to increase throughput and reliability.
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, and HSE teams to ensure safe and compliant operations.
• Analyse process data and prepare technical reports and recommendations for management.

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Process Engineer in an oil refinery or petrochemical plant.
• Strong knowledge of refinery unit operations, process simulation, and equipment (columns, heat exchangers, pumps, furnaces).
• Familiarity with process safety, HAZOP, and relevant industry standards.
• Experience with process simulation tools (e.g. Aspen HYSYS / PRO-II) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Willing to relocate and work on-site in Suriname — visa sponsorship & relocation arranged by X17 Group.
