Process Safety Manager — Oil Refinery

X17 is recruiting a seasoned Process Safety Manager for oil refinery operations in Suriname. You will lead the refinery's process safety management programme, embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with process safety standards across all units. This is a 1-year contract with VISA SPONSORSHIP, relocation, and related arrangements handled by client.

• Lead and govern the refinery's Process Safety Management (PSM) system across all process units.
• Drive hazard identification and risk assessment (HAZOP, LOPA, PHA) and ensure timely closure of actions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety standards, procedures, and performance indicators.
• Oversee management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), and mechanical integrity programmes.
• Lead process-safety incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are embedded organization-wide.
• Coach and build process-safety competence across operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
• Report process-safety performance to refinery and corporate leadership.

• Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive (seasoned) experience in process safety management within an oil refinery or petrochemical environment.
• Deep knowledge of PSM elements, HAZOP/LOPA, risk assessment, and process safety standards (e.g. OSHA PSM, Seveso, API).
• Proven track record leading process-safety programmes and incident investigations.
• Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Willing to relocate and work on-site in Suriname — visa sponsorship & relocation arranged by X17 Group.
